Last night’s episode of Fashion Star had the designers making two different pieces: one high-end and one lower-end. This fabulous jacket was the high-end piece designed by the one and only Kara Laricks! Her style is completely unique, kind of menswear-inspired meets deconstruction, if that makes any sense. She’s a real standout on the show and I’m excited that her design was bought by Saks! I loved the lower-end jacket as well (it was a short version of this jacket) but Saks is only selling this one.

I’m not huge on trends because I hate dropping a lot of money on an item, only to have it go out of style the next year. So I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of the high-low skirt trend at first, but it’s starting to grow on me now. This Cynthia Rowley dress has made the trend look so elegant! I’ve been on the lookout for a smaller size crossbody bag and this one from Olivia Harris is one of my faves! It’s got a bit of colorblocking going on with the two-toned leather, but it’s also in neutral colors (ivory and beige) so it won’t be out of style in a season or two. This jersey dress by up and coming designer Orly Shani was a big hit on last night’s Fashion Star! It was bought by Saks and is now available for you to purchase!
On the show, the dress was made in three colors. I guess Saks picked just one to sell at their stores – this orange and pink one. I love the color combination but I do wish the other colors were being sold as well. I also wish that this dress was exactly like the original one from the show because I thought the details really made it an even more fabulous dress. The original design had slanted pockets at the hips with a hint of pink material peeking out and you could also see some pink lining at the slit in the back. I guess I am just a sucker for pockets and contrasting lining! But this dress really is fabulous even without those details.
